Liverpool’s, Bayern Munich’s legends come together in charity match

CAIRO – 22 March 2018: Liverpool FC will be facing Bayern Munich in a charity match on Saturday at 5 p.m. in Anfield stadium, Liverpool, England.

The Reds, Liverpool FC, chose their 21 players, according to LFC’s official website; “Robbie Fowler will [lead] the team and Ian Rush will take the position of player-manager.”

Jamie Carragher, Steven Gerrard, Xabi Alonso, Daniel Agger, Dirk Kuyt, John Arne Riise and Luis Garcia will take part in the match. John Aldridge, 59, the oldest member of the Reds, will participate, while Jerzky Dudek and David James will be the goalkeepers.

Liverpool’s team: Jerzy Dudek, David James, Bjorn Tore Kvarme, Jason McAteer, Daniel Agger, Phil Babb, John Arne Riise, Steve McManaman, John Aldridge, Steven Gerrard, Ian Rush (player-manager), Robbie Fowler (captain), Luis Garcia, Michael Owen, Vladimir Smicer, Xabi Alonso, Patrik Berger, Dietmar Hamann, Dirk Kuyt, Gary McAllister, Jamie Carragher, according to Liverpool’s official website.

Bayern Munich’s team: Hans-Jörg Butt, Lothar Matthäus, Bixente Lizarazu, Sammy Kuffour, Ze Roberto, Giovane Elber, Luca Toni, Roy Makaay, and Xabi Alonso to name but a few, will be wearing Bayern Munich’s shirt, FC Bayern’s website announced.
Alonso will be playing for both Liverpool and Bayern Munich.

“It’s a special experience for everyone who gets to play in front of the impressive backdrop of Anfield, and our fans once again have the chance to see their former idols play,” Bayern’s chairman commented on Bayern Munich’s official website.

The charity match will help fund different projects for the Liverpool FC Foundation. The match will be shown live on Liverpool’s official Facebook page, LFCTV GO, and Sky Channel 429.
