Xabi Alonso
Bayer Leverkusen are preparing for their biggest league game in decades on Sunday, when a home win over Werder Bremen would bring Xabi Alonso's unbeaten side their first Bundesliga title.
Bayer Leverkusen were minutes away from seeing their unbeaten season come to an end on Thursday but coach Xabi Alonso said the thought of losing holds no fear for him and he is more concerned with how his team reacts when defeat finally comes their way.
Bayer Leverkusen coach Xabi Alonso would not be drawn on reports linking him with a potential move to the Premier League or Bundesliga rivals Bayern Munich, saying on Thursday he had nothing new to add.
The Spaniard who took over the then struggling club in October last year, led Leverkusen to a sixth place finish and a Europa League semi-final spot last season.
The prosecutor said in a statement Alonso is accused of defrauding the Spanish state of some 2 million euros between 2010 and 2012.
Liverpool FC will be facing Bayern Munich in a charity match on Saturday at 5 p.m. in Anfield stadium, Liverpool, England.
Xabi Alonso announced on Instagram that he has decided to continue his professional career as a coach.
