CAIRO - 7 August 2017: Security officials allowed 20,000 Al Ahly fans to support the club against Tunisian Esperence in the CAF Champions League quarter-finals in September.

“I want to thank the officials for allowing the fans to support Al Ahly. It is an important game for the team; I want to thank the security for their effort to secure the matches,” Chairman of the EFA Competitions Committee Amer Hussein told Egypt Today.

Hussein spoke to Goal.com about bringing back the fans to stadiums, saying, “There were few people causing disturbances in the matches, but if we succeeded to keep them away, it will be a great chance to see the fans again in the stadiums.”

Al Ahly faces Esperence from September 15-17 at Borg El Arab Stadium in Alexandria in the first leg of the CAF Champions League quarter-finals. The second leg will be played in Tunisia on September 22 or 23. Al Ahly needs the support from his fans against one of the best teams in Africa.
