CAIRO – 11 January 2018: The Palazzo della Mercanzia is now home to the Gucci Garden, an Alessandro Michele creation which will exclusively house a clannish store with unrivaled pieces. Along with an exhibition space and restaurant that is operated by a three-Michelin-star chef.

The Gucci Garden Galleria exhibition was designed by critic Maria Luisa Frisa. The two floors include rooms, each with its own specific theme, honoring the history and future of Gucci and its impact on pop culture.

On their website, Gucci described the first room “Guccification” as the place where the development of the iconic double G motif as well as the new Instagram trending Guccy, Guccify and Guccification is displayed throughout the years. The second is “Paraphernalia” that houses the symbols and signatures of Gucci’s design history. “Cosmorama” presents the jet-setter advancement era. “De Rerum Natur” is two rooms that are dedicated to Michele’s creative mind and inspirations. “Ephemera” brings this creative genius’s garden of dreams journey to an end, where the fashion giant’s phenomenal items and videos are displayed to parade the historic events of Gucci.

The red-velvet cinema program includes a preview of Zeus Machine/Phoenix, a short film by the ZAPRUDER filmmakers group.

At the end of 2017, Gucci won hearts when they announced that they will no longer be using real fur or animal skin in their creations, and have joined the Fur Free Alliance, an organization that aims to end the fur trade. This made them a favorite of 2017, while Alessandro Michele’s creations made a big statement using Gucci’s signature red and green, big logo and beautiful floral embroidery all while gaining the support of a significant cult. Guccio Gucci started selling leather bags to horsemen in the 1920’s. As the clientele developed, the style evolved into the luxury brand it is known as today.
