4 tips for healthy hair infograph – Egypt Today

CAIRO –1 August 2017: With the sun, beach and pool calling to us during our summer holidays, the question remains; how do we take care of our hair?

We have got you covered. With just some extra tenderness, love and care, your hair can look great even on the most challenging of days.

Here are 4 tips on how to tame your summer hair:

1. Start with a trim. You will get rid of split ends and help avoid further damage to the rest of your hair. To get you motivated, you may be glad to hear that it has been scientifically proven that hair actually grows faster during the summer.

2. Protect your strands from the sun. Wear a beach hat, a bandana or just braid your hair. They are all simple yet effective ways of shielding your hair from the UV rays. If you are not one who likes to cover up then just apply a little of your sunscreen on and through your hair to shield against the sun rays.

3. Avoid shampooing and co-wash instead. Shampoos strip your hair of its protective oils and so once you go for a swim, your hair becomes more susceptible to the chemicals and salt in the water. So co-wash your hair instead, which basically means; wash your hair with conditioner only.

4. Do an ACV rinse (Apple cider vinegar). If you still feel your hair needs a little more cleansing and shine, from that of a co-wash, then mix one big tablespoon of vinegar with three cups of warm water and massage the mixture onto your scalp after you condition. Keep the mixture for only two-three minutes then rinse. You can use regular vinegar, if ACV is not available.
