CAIRO – 9 May 2017: The allocation of 1 billion EGP to increase the subsidies on ration cards to 14 EGP per individual has been approved by the government as the country prepares for Ramadan, confirmed Minster of Supply Ali El-Sayed Ali El-Moselhi.
He added that such increase will last only for one month.

Minister of Solidarity, Ghada Wali also stressed that the initiative comes with the government’s commitment to alleviate the economic burdens on families and achieve social justice.

Around 71 million people use government subsidy cards to buy basic food staples.
A series of state-sponsored commodities markets called Ahlan Ramadan (Welcome Ramadan) will open across Egyptian governorates May 18-26. These markets will offer a wide range of groceries at competitive prices.
