CAIRO – 24 February 2025: Egypt’s exports to Saudi Arabia witnessed a 25.9 percent increase in 2024, reaching $3.4 billion, compared to $2.7 billion in 2023, according to the latest data from the Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics (CAPMAS).
Imports from Saudi Arabia saw an even more substantial surge, rising by 43.6 percent to $7.9 billion in 2024, up from $5.5 billion the previous year.
This sharp rise contributed to an overall expansion in trade between the two nations, with the total trade volume jumping 37.8 percent to $11.3 billion, compared to $8.2 billion in 2023.
Egypt’s top export to Saudi Arabia in 2024 was pure copper wires, valued at $645 million. Other significant exports included vegetables and fruits worth $397 million, followed by iron and steel at $222 million.
Additionally, ready-made garments contributed $202 million, while furniture and prefabricated structures generated $91 million in export revenue.
On the import side, Egypt’s largest purchases from Saudi Arabia were fuels, mineral oils, and distillation products, totaling $5.6 billion.
Plastics and plastic products followed with $1.3 billion, while organic chemical products amounted to $285 million.
Other notable imports included aluminum and aluminum products valued at $213 million, alongside paper and paper pulp products worth $109 million.
Saudi investments in Egypt dropped significantly, falling to $775.5 million in the 2023/2024 fiscal year, a steep decline from $2.4 billion recorded in 2022/2023.
Similarly, Egyptian investments in Saudi Arabia also declined, totaling $190 million in 2023/2024, compared to $272.1 million in the previous fiscal year.
