CAIRO – 18 March 2018: Egyptian expatriates in Kuwait, Lebanon and Saudi Arabia headed to the Egyptian embassies to cast their votes on the third day of the 2018 presidential election.

Egypt's Ambassador to Kuwait Tareq el Qouni described the election process in Kuwait “as the king of all election processes” because of the high turnout of Egyptian voters, who seek to exercise their constitutional rights despite the weather conditions.

Qouni praised Egyptian expats’ commitment to the rules set by the embassy and their cooperation with the embassy’s officials to ensure a smooth and transparent voting process.

In this regard, the National Bank of Kuwait urged its employees to head to the embassy to cast their votes for the third day of the 2018 presidential election.

The Egyptian community members in Kuwait gathered at the Egyptian embassy early Sunday to cast their votes on the third day in the 2018 presidential election, after recording the highest number of votes on the first and second days.

In the same context, Egyptian Ambassador to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia Nasser Hamdi stressed that Egyptian expats are keen to cast their votes before going to work. He referred that he contacted Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Labor to facilitate the process of election.

The operations room set up by the authority to follow up the process of Egyptian expatriates voting in the presidential election indicated that the voter turnout is high in Kuwait, Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Riyadh and Jeddah.

Egyptian expatriates worldwide visited 139 polling stations early Sunday in embassies and consulates to cast their ballots on the third and final day of the 2018 presidential election.

In 2017, the government estimated the number of Egyptians living abroad to be9.4 million.

The National Election Authority (NEA), headed by counselor Lashen Ibrahim, announced on February 24 the final list for Egypt’s upcoming presidential election including President Abdel Fatah al-Sisi and Moussa Moustafa Moussa, Head of al-Ghad Party.
