CAIRO - 10 July 2020: A total of 46,464 Egyptian expats in Kuwait returned home on 293 flights in a month, Egypt’s state-owned news agency MENA reported a high ranking official on Friday.

The returnees went to Cairo and their hometowns in other governorates like Sohag, Assiut, Alexandria and Luxor, he said.

Due to the repercussions of the COVID-19 crisis, some of the Gulf States, including Kuwait, are deporting migrant workers to their homes. On July 9, the Kuwaiti Civil Aviation Authority announced that 1,016 stranded Egyptian expats left Kuwait on board of six flights,

The flights were organized by Kuwait Airways, Air Cairo, Air Arabia Egypt, Kuwait Jazeera Airways and FlyEgypt.
