CAIRO – 16 June 2017: Doha incites followers of the Muslim Brotherhood in Kuwait to destabilize the country, senior Qatari dissidents claimed Thursday.

Meanwhile in Kuwait, whose government adopts a neutral position in the anti-Qatar situation in the Gulf area, 12 Kuwaiti activists released a Monday statement calling on their government to stop local entities from funding and supporting extremist groups that stir sectarian strife in the region, citing the Muslim Brotherhood, al-Qaeda, al-Nusra, the Islamic State group and other offshoot groups, according to several Saudi and Kuwaiti news outlets.

The activists emphasized that Kuwait should apply counter-terrorism laws by addressing “extremist and exclusionist” ideology, and confronting the forces supporting terrorism. They urged the Kuwaiti Cabinet to “submit to the threats of extremist forces.”

Saudi Arabian social media users created a hashtag which translates into, “Tamim, a liar like your father.” while their Kuwaiti counterparts circulated the hashtag “Kuwait does not welcome the Gulf traitor.”

On June 9, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates and Bahrain announced in a joint statement that they included 59 individuals and 12 organizations with ties to Qatar on their terrorism watch lists.

Only a few days earlier, the four states along with Libya’s eastern-based government, Yemen, Mauritania, Comoros and the Maldives announced cutting diplomatic ties with Qatar over "its continuous support for terrorism."
