CAIRO - 27 April 2017: Egypt condemned Turky’s Tuesday air strike on Kurdish Peshmerga troops on Mount Sinjar in northwestern Iraqi in a Thursday statement.

The Turkish attack was an “unacceptable and unjustified violation of Iraqi sovereignty,” the statement from the Egyptian Foreign Ministry said.

Egypt expressed support for the Iraqi government and people in the face of Turkey’s “heinous” attack. Egypt slammed what it called an unjustified attack which it said will increase already complicated of regional situations and undermine efforts to combat terrorism.

Tuesday, Turkish planes bombed Kurdish fighters in Iraq's Sinjar region, killing at least 20 in a widening campaign against groups linked to the outlawed Kurdistan Workers Party.

Around 70 militants were killed in operations in the two neighboring states, a statement from the Turkish military said.
