Dr. Badr Abdelatty, Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation, and Egyptians Abroad, headed Egypt’s delegation to the African Union Summit held on Saturday, 14 February.
CAIRO – 28 May 2026: Egypt strongly condemned the heinous attacks launched by Iran against Kuwait, describing them as a flagrant violation of Kuwait’s sovereignty and a grave breach of international law and the Charter of the United Nations, the Egyptian Foreign Ministry said in a statement on Thursday.
Egypt affirmed its full solidarity with and support for Kuwait in confronting these attacks, which threaten its security, stability, and the safety of its citizens. It reiterated its firm and unwavering position that the security and stability of Kuwait and all Gulf states constitute an integral part of Egyptian and Arab national security.
The statement also expressed Egypt’s support for all measures and actions taken by Kuwait to preserve its security and sovereignty, while warning against the consequences of this dangerous escalation, which undermines diplomatic efforts aimed at de-escalation.
The General Staff of the Kuwaiti Army announced that its forces had responded to hostile missiles and aerial threats on Thursday.
Meanwhile, Dr. Badr Abdelatty, Egypt’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Immigration, and Egyptians Abroad, held a telephone call with Sheikh Abdullah Jarrah Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, Kuwait’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, on Thursday, 28 May, to discuss regional developments and reaffirm Egypt’s full solidarity with Kuwait.
During the call, Abdelatty reiterated Egypt’s strong condemnation of the attacks targeting Kuwait, stressing Egypt’s complete support for the country in confronting these actions. He emphasized that the security and stability of Kuwait and all Gulf states are an integral part of Egyptian national security, and affirmed support for all measures taken by Kuwait to safeguard its sovereignty, security, and territorial integrity.
The call also included an exchange of views on the latest regional developments and ongoing negotiations between the United States and Iran. Abdelatty expressed hope that these efforts would lead to an agreement ending the conflict and addressing the security concerns of Gulf states, thereby supporting Arab national security and regional stability.
