CAIRO – 29 March 2026: Dr. Badr Abdelatty, Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation, and Egyptians Abroad, met with Faisal bin Farhan Al-Saud, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, on the sidelines of the Quadrilateral Ministerial Meeting in Islamabad on Sunday, March 29. The discussion focused on enhancing bilateral cooperation, addressing regional developments, and supporting ongoing efforts to de-escalate tensions and promote stability in the region.

 

The ministers explored ways to strengthen Egypt-Saudi cooperation across multiple fields, highlighting the distinguished fraternal and strategic relations between the two countries. They emphasized their shared commitment to developing avenues of bilateral collaboration to serve the interests of their peoples.

 

The meeting also addressed ongoing initiatives to support direct negotiations between the United States and Iran, underscoring the importance of diplomacy as the primary tool to prevent widespread regional instability.

 

Minister Abdelatty reaffirmed Egypt’s full solidarity with Saudi Arabia and the Gulf states, condemning attacks that threaten their security and the well-being of their citizens. He stressed Egypt’s categorical rejection of any attempts to undermine Arab national security or infringe upon the sovereignty of Gulf nations.

 

On the Palestinian issue, the ministers emphasized the need to implement the second phase of the Trump plan and to immediately halt Israeli violations in the West Bank. They reiterated that ensuring the establishment of an independent Palestinian state within the June 4, 1967 borders is essential to securing the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people and achieving sustainable regional stability.

 

The discussion also covered the situation in Lebanon amid ongoing Israeli escalation. Both ministers highlighted the importance of supporting Lebanese national institutions to safeguard the country’s sovereignty, stability, and territorial integrity.
