RIYADH – 18 March 2026: Egypt will join a meeting of foreign ministers from several Arab and Muslim countries hosted by Saudi Arabia to discuss efforts aimed at addresing the ongoing regional escalation.

Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty traveled to Riyadh on Wednesday to participate in the consultative meeting, the ministry said in a statement.

Egypt’s participation underscores its commitment to advancing coordinated efforts with brotherly and friendly countries to forge a unified response to current challenges, the ministry added.

The meeting will explore ways to respond to the ongoing military escalation in the region as well as de-escalation efforts.

The ministers will discuss the future of the region, including the arrangements needed to restore stability, safeguard national security, and prevent a descent into widespread chaos.

The meeting comes while the US-Israeli war in Iran has been ongoing since February 28, with retaliatory Iranian strikes across the region violating several Arab nations’ sovereignty.

Egypt has repeatedly condemned Iranian strikes on the Gulf states besides Iraq and Jordan, and warned of “comprehensive chaos” amid expanded conflict, with strikes hitting civilian areas and energy infrastructure.
