CAIRO – 15 March 2026: Egyptian Minister of Foreign Affairs Badr Abdelatty stated that no justifications or excuses can legitimize the violations and attacks on the Gulf States in the ongoing regional war between Iran and its allies from one side and the US and Israel from the other side. He affirmed that activating mechanisms for joint Arab action is quite important to provide an effective protective umbrella for Arab national security.
During a phone call with Kuwaiti counterpart Sheikh Jarrah Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah on Saturday, Abdelatty affirmed these violations breach international law and threaten regional peace and security.
Minister Abdelatty affirmed Egypt's full support and solidarity with Kuwait in confronting the current regional challenges and the unacceptable attacks targeting the Gulf states. He emphasized Egypt's unequivocal condemnation of any attacks targeting the security and stability of the Arab Gulf states.
The call also addressed the direct repercussions of the ongoing military escalation on air traffic and logistical arrangements in the region. The Egyptian Foreign Minister expressed Egypt's understanding and support for the precautionary and sovereign measures taken by the State of Kuwait, including the closure of its airspace, to ensure the security and safety of its territory and citizens in light of the surrounding threats.
Abdelatty stressed the paramount importance of an immediate cessation of military escalation, warning of the catastrophic consequences of the region sliding into a full-blown war. He emphasized the necessity of prioritizing diplomacy and dialogue.
For his part, the Kuwaiti Foreign Minister expressed his country's deep appreciation for the Egyptian political leadership's supportive stance, commending Cairo's commitment to continued joint coordination and praising its pivotal role in leading de-escalation efforts in the region.
