CAIRO – 22 February 2026: Egypt’s ministers of foreign affairs and investment met on Sunday to coordinate on efforts to attract foreign direct investment (FDI), support Egyptian exports, and strengthen the global promotion of the national economy.

Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation and Egyptian Expatriates Badr Abdelatty received Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade Mohamed Farid, as part of ongoing efforts to reinforce inter-ministerial coordination to achieve economic development goals, the foreign ministry said in a statement.

FDI, Foreign Trade

The talks focused on enhancing coordination between the two ministries, particularly in efforts to attract FDI and promote available opportunities across priority sectors, in line with Egypt’s economic development targets and Vision 2030.

The ministers also reviewed efforts to open new external markets to support Egyptian exports and expand trade exchange with partner countries, contributing to sustainable development objectives and strengthening the competitiveness of the national economy.

Both sides stressed the importance of intensifying institutional cooperation in promoting Egypt’s economy abroad through closer coordination between Egyptian diplomatic missions and commercial representation offices.

They also underscored the need to target promising markets and investors while highlighting Egypt’s success stories in improving the investment climate and upgrading infrastructure.

Expanding in Africa

The meeting further reviewed ongoing efforts to strengthen Egypt’s economic presence in Africa by enabling Egyptian companies to expand into African markets.

This expansion, the statement said, builds on Egypt’s extensive experience in implementing development projects across key sectors, including infrastructure, agriculture, healthcare, education, and pharmaceuticals, supporting regional economic integration and reinforcing Egypt’s active role on the continent.

Closer Coordination

Abdelatty affirmed the foreign ministry’s commitment to mobilizing Egypt’s diplomatic missions abroad to support investment promotion and open new avenues for economic cooperation with regional and international partners.

He stressed the importance of role integration between the two ministries to achieve national economic objectives.

Farid, for his part, said the coming phase would require close institutional coordination between the ministries of investment and foreign affairs to maximize the benefits of Egypt’s international partnerships in attracting high-quality, sustainable foreign direct investment and opening new markets for Egyptian exports.

He added that integrating diplomatic promotion tools with investment and trade policies would enhance the competitiveness of the national economy and support development goals and job creation.
