CAIRO – 15 February 2026: Egypt reiterated that it has drawn a series of red lines regarding the ongoing conflict in Sudan, warning that any breach of these lines will trigger a “decisive, firm and strong” response.

“Egypt has been patient for a long time, but it cannot accept the continuation of this unacceptable situation indefinitely,” Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty said in an interview with Al Jazeera on Saturday.

Abdelatty said the presence of mercenaries, parallel armed groups, and illegitimate militias is the main factor behind the deterioration of the situation in Sudan.

He emphasized that the Sudanese national army and state institutions must not be treated as equals to these illegitimate entities, and that Sudan’s sovereignty and the integrity of its institutions must be preserved.

Abdelatty stressed the division of Sudan, the collapse of Sudanese institutions, or the violation of Sudan’s sovereignty is “absolutely unacceptable.”

He called the the issues in Sudan “sensitive and directly linked to Egyptian national security.”

The minister stressed that Egypt is actively engaging with the United Nations on the Sudanese conflict file, highlighting solutions being examined to end the war.

He underlined the inseparable connection between Sudanese and Egyptian national security, warning that continued threats facing Sudan cannot be tolerated.
