CAIRO – 29 January 2026: Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty met with Elizabeth Dibble, Director General of the Multinational Force and Observers (MFO) in Sinai, to discuss ways to strengthen cooperation, the foreign ministry said in a statement on Thursday.

During the meeting, they reviewed issues related to the force’s role in promoting peace and stability in the region.

The foreign minister expressed appreciation for the MFO’s ongoing work in Sinai since its establishment following the Egyptian-Israeli Peace Treaty, describing the force as a pivotal element in supporting security and stability pillars.

Abdelatty also praised the close coordination between the MFO and Egyptian authorities, underscoring the importance of continued support to enable the force to carry out its mandate effectively.

He acknowledged the participation of contributing countries as a reflection of shared commitment to supporting peace.

Dibble, for her part, commended the constructive cooperation with Egypt and the special attention given by pertinent authorities to facilitate the MFO’s work.

She reaffirmed her commitment to ongoing coordination and consultation with Egypt to support the force’s mission and enhance stability in the region.

The MFO, operationally based in Sinai, is an independent international peacekeeping organization established in 1981 under a protocol to the 1979 Egypt‑Israel Peace Treaty to supervise the implementation of its security arrangements.
