CAIRO – 21 January 2026: Egypt on Wednesday welcomed an invitation from US President Donald Trump to President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi to join the Gaza Board of Peace.
In a statement by the foreign ministry, Egypt announced its approval to participate and committed to completing the necessary legal and constitutional procedures.
Egypt reiterated its appreciation for Trump’s leadership and his commitment to ending the war in Gaza and promoting security, peace, and stability in the Middle East.
The Egyptian government expressed its support for the Board of Peace mission as part of the second phase of the comprehensive plan to resolve the Gaza conflict, in line with United Nations Security Council Resolution 2803.
Egypt stressed that it would continue its efforts, in coordination with the US and other partners, to reinforce the ceasefire, ensure unhindered delivery of humanitarian aid, deploy an international stabilization force, and empower the national committee managing Gaza to carry out its duties.
The statement emphasized Egypt’s commitment to collaborating on early recovery projects across the Gaza Strip as a precursor to broader reconstruction efforts.
Cairo also called for advancing a just and lasting peace, guaranteeing the Palestinian people’s right to self-determination and statehood, which would contribute to security and stability for all countries and peoples in the region.
Gaza Board of Peace
The Board of Peace (BoP) is a newly established organization under Trump’s peace initiative, linked to the second phase of the Gaza peace plan and endorsed by the United Nations.
Under this plan, a Palestinian technocratic committee has been formed to manage daily life in Gaza, including security and essential services, under the supervision of the BoP.
Minister Hassan Rashad, Head of the Egyptian General Intelligence Service (GIS), has been named by the White House as the Gaza Executive Board, assigned with supporting the technocratic committee.
Numerous world leaders have been reportedly invited to join the BoP.
