DAMASCUS – 10 January 2026: The U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) announced carrying out “large-scale” strikes in Syria on Saturday aimed at Islamic State (ISIS) militants.
The attacks were part of an operation launched in December following an assault on a joint US-Syrian government patrol in central Syria that killed two US soldiers and a civilian interpreter.
The attack also injured several Syrian and US service members.
CENTCOM said in a statement that the strikes stems from “our ongoing commitment to root out Islamic terrorism against our warfighters, prevent future attacks, and protect American and partner forces in the region.”
