CAIRO – 9 January 2026: Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty highlighted Egypt’s efforts to advance the next phase of US President Donald Trump’s plan for Gaza in a phone call with European Commissioner for the Mediterranean Dubravka Šuica on Friday.

The foreign minister stressed the need to move to the second phase of the plan, including forming a temporary Palestinian technocratic committee to manage the daily affairs of Gaza’s residents and establishing an international stabilization force.

He also reviewed ongoing efforts to ensure the sustained flow of humanitarian, relief, and medical assistance in sufficient quantities, while creating the necessary conditions to launch early recovery and reconstruction efforts.

Abdelatty further underscored Egypt’s firm rejection of any practices that could undermine the unity of Palestinian territory or lead to the division of the Gaza Strip.
