CAIRO – 3 September 2025: President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi and Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Bahrain's Crown Prince and Prime Minister, discussed the war in Gaza in a Cairo meeting on Wednesday. Their talks reiterated the two nations' rejection of the displacement of Palestinians from their territory.

President Sisi and Prince Salman underlined the necessity of launching the reconstruction process in Gaza.

Prince Salman commended Egypt’s vigorous efforts to restore stability, particularly in Gaza, in coordination with Qatar and the United States, with the aim of achieving a ceasefire, securing the release of captives and detainees, and alleviating the humanitarian suffering in the strip.

To settle the Palestinian cause amid the ongoing turmoil, they called for reviving the political process aimed at establishing an independent Palestinian state on the June 4, 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital, in line with the two-state solution and international legitimacy resolutions.

They reaffirmed this track as the only path to achieving lasting peace in the region.

The president and the Bahraini crown prince also explored ways to preserve regional stability and strengthen security in several countries experiencing tensions, with an emphasis on respecting their sovereignty and territorial integrity.

Their remarks on a ceasefire in Gaza come while Israel is expanding its military operations in the enclave, with a globally-condemned plan to take over Gaza City, home to almost half of the enclave’s 2.2 million population, and reoccupy the entire strip.

Israel has so far killed nearly 64,000 Palestinians since the start of the war, injured almost 161,000 more, displaced the majority of the population, and plunged Gaza into famine with 367 deaths reported due to malnutrition and starvation, including 131 children.

Cairo, alongside other Arab and Muslim nations, have been countering Israeli-US plans to displace Gazans to other countries, especially Egypt, and thus eradicate the Palestinian cause. Instead, they endorsed an Egyptian plan for the early recovery and reconstruction in Gaza last March.

Discussions between the president and the Bahraini crown prince also covered the bilateral relations between both countries.

The meeting reaffirmed the shared commitment to further strengthening the solid bilateral relations, particularly in the economic, trade, and investment fields, in addition to accelerating the implementation of joint projects.

Prince Salman conveyed the greetings of King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa to President Sisi, praising the depth of the historic Egyptian-Bahraini ties, the alignment of views between the two countries’ leaderships on various issues, and the high level of coordination and ongoing consultations between them.
