A microbus crashed into a truck in northern Egypt's Menoufia, resulting in 19 fatalities - Press photo
CAIRO – 27 June 2025: Menoufia, located in Egypt’s fertile Nile Delta, woke up to tragedy as 18 young women and one man were killed after a microbus collided with a truck on the Regional Ring Road on Friday.
Photos from the scene showed the microbus completely wrecked.
The deceased, along with two other injured laborers, were transported to nearby hospitals. Most, if not all, of the victims were aged between 14 and 23 years.
The cause of the accident has not yet been officially determined, as the Public Prosecution is currently investigating the incident.
Minister of Social Solidarity Maya Morsy has directed relevant authorities and the Egyptian Red Crescent relief team to provide urgent assistance and to take necessary measures to complete social investigations to support the families of the victims.
Morsy also ordered the disbursement of compensation to the families of the deceased and to those injured, in coordination with civil society organizations.
