CAIRO – 5 November 2023: Turkish Minister of Foreign Affairs Hakan Fidan made Sunday a phone call to his Egyptian counterpart Sameh Shokry to exchange views on pushing forward an immediate humanitarian ceasefire in Gaza in order to protect civilians and deliver aid.

There was congruence among the two ministers on the salience of ending the current tragic situation as soon as possible. In that framework, they discussed the security and humanitarian repercussions of the Israeli aggression, and its impact on both regional and international peace and security. Hence, they stressed the importance of inhibiting the extension of violence to other areas in the region.

Turkish jets loaded with aid to Gaza landed in Egypt's Arish International Airport in October, as they were being transported to the Strip by the Egyptian Red Crescent via Rafah Border Crossing.
