CAIRO – 11 June 2023: Minister of Foreign Affairs Sameh Shokry made Sunday a phone call to his newly-appointed Turkish counterpart Hakan Fidan to congratulate him on holding the position, and expressing aspiration to continue developing and normalizing bilateral relations.
The call tackled matters pertaining to joint cooperation, exchanging visits on all levels of officials, as well as a number of issues of mutual concern.
On his side, the Turkish minister thanked his Egyptian counterpart, stipulating the importance of pushing forward the restoration of ties. He equally welcomed working towards more understanding and fulfillment of joint interests.
Minister Shokry has been to Ankara in April to take part in talks aimed at normalizing relations with Turkey and upgrading diplomatic ties, which were severed a decade ago.
