Egypt, Chad discuss ways of activating role of Sahel Alliance

CAIRO – 15 February 2023: Minister of Foreign Affairs Sameh Shokry met with Chadian counterpart Mohamed Saleh al-Nadif discussing ways of activating the role of the Sahel Alliance, especially in light of the unrest and security challenges facing the region.

The meeting took place on the sidelines of the 42nd Ordinary Meeting of the Executive Council of the African Union. The two ministers held talks on bilateral cooperation, and exchanged views on a number of political and security crises and issues on the African continent.

Minister Shokry also underlined Egypt's backing to negotiations aimed at accomplishing stability in the Chadian capital, N'Djamena. He added that Egypt was ready to provide any kind of support during that phase out of faith in the centrality of the Chadian role in the region.
