Many areas across Egypt expected to see heavy rain, thunderstorm Tuesday

CAIRO – 2 January 2023: Many areas across Egypt, including Greater Cairo, are expected to see rain and/or thunderstorm on Tuesday, according to the latest weather report posted by the Egyptian Meteorological Authority today.

Northwestern coasts and northern Lower Egypt will possibly see moderate to heavy rain that can turn into a thunderstorm on Tuesday, the EMA said.

Also, areas in southern Lower Egypt, northeastern coasts, Sinai, and Suez Canal cities may experience light to moderate rain that can also turn into a thunderstorm.

Light rain is expected in areas in Greater Cairo, northern Upper Egypt, the Gulf of Suez, and southern Red Sea governorate, the EMA said.

On Wednesday, the EMA expects light to moderate rain in areas in the northern coasts and northern Lower Egypt.

The EMA also expects light rain in areas of southern Lower Egypt, Suez Canal cities, and possibly Greater Cairo and northern Upper Egypt on Wednesday.

On Thursday, a chance of light rain still exists in northern coasts and northern Lower Egypt.

The EMA expects cool weather during the early morning hours and at night time over this week.

Weather will be nice in Greater Cairo, Lower Egypt, northern coasts, northern Upper Egypt, South Sinai, and southern Upper Egypt.

Average temperatures based on the EMA expectations:

- Cairo and Lower Egypt – Highs: 20 - Lows: 11

- Northern coasts – Highs: 19 – Lows: 13

- South Sinai – Highs: 22 – Lows: 14

- Northern Upper Egypt – Highs: 20 – Lows: 8

- Southern Upper Egypt – Highs: 23 – Lows: 10
