CAIRO- 22 May 2022: The Egyptian government is keen to increase the cultivation of strategic crops, said Minister of Agriculture El Sayyed Al Qusseir in a comment to the “On My Responsibility” talk show on Sada Al-Balad on Saturday.

He added that the Ministry is implementing projects of horizontal agricultural expansion for food security.

“We are targeting the reclamation and cultivation of nearly 2.2 million new acres. If we did not have these huge agricultural projects, we would have suffered," he added.

President Abdel Fattah El Sisi inaugurated the 'Future Project for Agricultural Production' at Dabaa-Rod El-Farag road on Saturday, which comprises more than a million acre.

During the inauguration ceremony, Sisi said that the national agricultural projects are being implemented at a "very high" cost and seek to provide job opportunities, including in the neediest governorates of Beni Suef and Minya, besides securing agricultural crops.

“I am in a challenge to meet my people and nation’s needs,” Sisi said, adding: “It is a pledge that I adhere to and seek to fulfill.”
