CAIRO - 21 September 2021: Chairman of the Egyptian Armed Forces Engineering Authority Ihab al-Far stated Tuesday that his establishment has been assigned to accomplish projects worth LE486 billion since June 30, 2014.

Far elaborated that 276 projects worth LE198 billion have been completed, and that 110 others worth LE206 billion are still under progress. The official added that plans have been put to execute 32 projects worth LE82 billion.

Speaking of roads constructed in Sinai, the authority’s chairman stated that 25 roads, extending over 1,185 kilometers, are finished while 16 others, stretching over 375 kilometers, are still under progress.

Far’s statements were made during the ceremony held for President Abdel Fatah al-Sisi to inaugurate a number of projects in the Sinai Peninsula via video conference.

The president inaugurated a road extending between Ismailyah and North Sinai’s Oga among others. That is in addition to a number of healthcare facilities, which are Saint Catherine Central Hospital, Family Medical Center in South Sinai’s Rowaisat, and Family Medical Center in Suez.

President Sisi stated that urban, tourism, and agricultural development in Sinai will be over in two years, and that Bahr Al Baqar Wastewater Treatment Plant will be inaugurated in a few days. He also added that roads stretching over 1,070 kilometers will be launched East Owainat in the New Valley governorate by the end of the year.

President Sisi further instructed officials to develop the water supply and wastewater networks in South Sinai’s Rowaisat village within works carried out to upgrade roads there.

Speaking of the Suez Canal, the president addressed its ability to recover from the slowdown of international trade incurred by the pandemic. The president noted that the Canal’s revenues rose by 11 percent ($500 billion) compared to last year, considering that a good sign.
