Foreign Minister and Minister of Emigration and Egyptian Expatriate Affairs Badr Abdelatty said it was necessary to reach a just and sustainable settlement to the Palestinian issue during his meeting Wednesday with Jason Isaacson, Director General of Policy at the American Jewish Committee (AJC).
Abdelatty stressed the urgent need for an immediate and lasting ceasefire, which would help de-escalate the situation and ensure the sustained and sufficient delivery of humanitarian aid to Palestinians in Gaza. He reiterated that a just and comprehensive peace can only be achieved through the establishment of an independent Palestinian state along the June 4, 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital, stating this as the only viable path to long-term regional security and stability.
Shoukry reviewed the Egyptian counter-terrorism role, which coincides with the economic reform measures.
