Exceptional Visit
Last week, the Egyptian Official Gazette published Presidential Decree No. 1 of 2024, concerning the pardon of the remainder of the sentence for some convicts on the occasion of Police Day and the January 25 Revolution, which fell on January 25, 2024.
Egypt’s Ministry of Interior has announced granting an exceptional visit to inmates of rehabilitation and correctional centers on the occasion of the New Hijri year 1444.
“This comes within the framework of the Ministry of Interior's keenness to uphold human rights values, implement the punitive policy with a modern approach, and provide various aspects of care for inmates,” the ministry said in a statement.
The visit is an addition to the visits allocated for each of the prisoners during their jail term, which means that it will not be deducted from the number of their legalized visits.
Two exceptional visits have been granted to all inmates across Egypt on the occasion of the celebration of Sinai Liberation Day corresponding April 25th and Easter celebrations.
Egypt’s Ministry of Interior granted inmates one exceptional visit during the period from March till the end of the month, on the annual anniversary of Mother's Day.
