The Egyptian National Council for Persons with Disabilities and the National Telecom Regulatory Authority (NTRA) signed a cooperation protocol to activate joint mechanisms aimed at improving telecommunications services for persons with disabilities in Egypt.
The Ministry of Health and Population added that the target group is newborns, noting that screening is being conducted at centers distributed throughout the country.
On the occasion of the World Hearing Day marking March 3, the Ministry of Social Solidarity shed light on the efforts deployed to deal with hearing impairment.
The initiative was launched in September 2019. A total of 253,981 children would be re-examined, a week after the first screening at the same unit, Health Ministry Spokesman Hossam Abdel Ghaffar said.
The Ministry of Health and Population is establishing 268 clinics for early detection of hearing impairment.
