CAIRO - 8 May 2025: The Egyptian President's initiative for early detection and treatment of hearing impairment and loss aims to conduct hearing screenings and treat hearing loss in children, and that's all free of charge.
The Ministry of Health and Population added that the target group is newborns, noting that screening is being conducted at centers distributed throughout the country.

The Ministry of Health and Population noted that the initiative provides diagnostic and therapeutic services, including medication, surgery, and hearing aids.
For his part, Dr. Hossam Abdel Ghaffar, the official spokesperson for the Ministry of Health and Population, indicated that the number of hearing referral hospitals and centers has increased from 30 to 34 across all governorates, equipping them with the latest medical equipment and supplies to provide hearing initiative services.
Abdel Ghaffar stated that the initiative comes within the framework of expanding comprehensive health coverage and ensuring children's access to quality healthcare using the latest treatment methods. This will ensure a safe and healthy life for newborns.
