Addressing the event, Sewilam commended ongoing efforts to advance international dialogue on enhancing cooperation in the water sector.
The Egyptian Ambassador stressed that relations between Egypt and Greece have become a model of cooperation founded on mutual respect and shared interests. He expressed confidence that this positive momentum will continue in the coming period in a manner that serves the interests of both countries and their friendly peoples. He also highlighted the enduring historical ties and longstanding friendship that unite Egypt and Greece.
Participants also reviewed progress on the project to increase the discharge capacity of the Toshka Canal and Spillway, including implementation and completion rates. The project is regarded as a strategic investment that will enhance the flexibility of Egypt's water management system and strengthen its preparedness to respond to varying hydrological conditions.
Minister of Water Resources and Irrigation Hani Sewilam said the strategy underscores water as a top strategic priority for the Egyptian state, framing it as a matter of national security.
Egypt’s Minister of Water Resources and Irrigation, Hani Sweilem, met Monday with Ambassador Nermin El-Zawahry, assistant minister of foreign affairs and secretary-general of the Egyptian Agency for Partnership for Development, to discuss expanding cooperation with Nile Basin nations.
Minister of Foreign Affairs, Emigration and Expatriates Badr Abdelatty and Minister of Water Resources and Irrigation Hani Sweilam said Egypt endeavors to achieve development in Nile Basin countries.
He explained that Egypt had established close ties with African states in the various fields to meet the needs of their peoples.
Minister of Water Resources and Irrigation Mohamed Abdel Ati visited on Tuesday the inspector general of the Egyptian Irrigation in Khartoum, Sudan.
