Unknown Soldier Memorial
The ceremony marked Egypt’s annual Martyr's and Veterans' Day on 9 March, commemorating the anniversary of the death of former Chief of Staff of the Egyptian Armed Forces Abdel Moneim Riad in 1969.
President El-Sisi also visited the tomb of the late President Mohamed Anwar El-Sadat, where he laid a wreath of flowers and recited Al-Fatiha in remembrance of his pure soul.
The President also laid wreaths at the tombs of two late Presidents Gamal Abdel Nasser and Mohamed Anwar Al-Sadat.
Many do not know the details of the memorial, although 44 years have passed since it was established in 1975.
On October 6, 1973 at 2 p.m. (Cairo time) the Egyptian forces launched the six-day war against the Israeli troops.
