Koshary
In December 2022, Advisor to the Minister of Culture for Heritage Affairs Nahla Emam, representative of Egypt in the Convention for the Safeguarding of Intangible Heritage at UNESCO, revealed efforts to register popular Egyptian dishes such as Koshary and Fava Beans [Foul Medames] on the list of intangible heritage in UNESCO.
“Numerous countries registered their popular food and games,” commented Emam.
Elmenus kept an eye on where and how Egyptians spent their money on food in 2016.
While it has long been known as "the plate of the poor", koshary is the go-to meal for most Egyptians, transcending social an economic barriers.
