Marburg virus
Health officials confirmed the presence of the deadly pathogen in samples taken from a cluster of suspected viral hemorrhagic fever cases in the country’s south, the ministry said.
The Ebola-like virus is incurable and up to 88% of infected cases die, according to the WHO. The fatal virus symptoms include “fever, fatigue and blood-stained vomit and diarrhoea.”
Uganda has confirmed one case of Marburg virus, a highly infectious haemorrhagic fever similar to Ebola, the health minister said on Thursday.
