Egyptian Armed Forces Chief of Staff Lt. General Ahmed Khalifa oversaw a major joint counter-terrorism drill under the "Bright Star 2025" military exercise with US forces, involving the storming and clearing of a simulated terrorist stronghold and restoring normalcy.
Of these, 14 nations will take part as active participants, deploying more than 8,000 troops, while 30 other countries will join as observers, said a video statement posted by the Egyptian Armed Forces’ spokesman on Thursday.
"Bright Star 2021" is taking place on September 2-17 at Mohamed Naguib Military Base with the participation of 21 countries.

The five countries participating in the maneuvers that are set to last until November 16 include Saudi Arabia, UAE, Bahrain, Jordan and Kuwait.
The drills will take place at Mohamed Naguib Base, west of Alexandria.
On Thursday, the port of Alexandria received the U.S. Navy ships: USS Carney (DDG 64) and USNS Carson City (T-EPF-7).
Armed Forces Chief of Staff Mahmoud Hegazy and Chargé d'Affaires of the U.S. Embassy in Cairo Thomas H. Goldberger witnessed on Wednesday.
The tour included training fields at the base, and visiting the external training camp of infantry and tanks.
