The two leaders discussed cooperation among Nile Basin countries, the Egyptian Presidency said in a statement. Discussions highlighted the need to respect international law governing transboundary international rivers.
The signing ceremony took place in the presence of delegations from both countries as part of Tshisekedi’s official visit to Egypt.
The tragedy occurred when a wooden boat carrying 500 people caught fire and capsized in the Congo River last week. The incident has left 148 people dead with over 100 more still missing, according to officials on Friday.
