Since January 2026, severe flooding triggered by La Niña-related heavy rains and Cyclone Gezani has devastated parts of Southern Africa, impacting nearly two million people. Mozambique has been the most severely affected country, recording 215 fatalities and more than 856,000 people affected across several provinces, including Gaza, Sofala, and Maputo.
