Egyptian agricultural exports have achieved a significant leap this year, driven by increasing global demand for domestic produce.
According to Mohamed El-Mansy, Peru has opened its market to Egyptian orange exports, while Panama has approved imports of Egyptian grapes and strawberry seedlings. Mexico has also opened its market to Egyptian strawberry seedlings.
The ministry confirmed that the Central Administration for Agricultural Quarantine has not received any official notifications from any country regarding the rejection of Egyptian strawberry shipments due to contamination with carcinogenic pesticides, particularly in 2026.
The minister pointed out that Egypt ranked first in the exports of orange and frozen strawberry.
The exports recorded $290 million, against $240 million for the same period last year, Vice Chairman of the Food Export Council (FEC) Ashraf El-Sayed said.
In 2010, Egypt's strawberry exports did not surpass $11 million.
Exports of fresh strawberries are subject to all the procedures and requirements of quarantine.
