Maduro is expected to appear before a federal court in Manhattan on Monday for an initial hearing on charges including narco-terrorism conspiracy, Reuters reported, citing a Justice Department official.
Cairo’s remarks come after the United States carried out an abrupt military operation across Venezuela early on Saturday, conducting strikes and capturing the Latin American country’s president and his wife.
“We are going to run the country until such time as we can do a safe, proper and judicious transitions,” Trump said as he spoke from his Mar-a-Lago resort in Florida.
In the early hours of Saturday, the United States carried out an abrupt military operation across the Latin American country.
The announcement followed a recent US Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) notice warning major airlines of a “potentially hazardous situation” over Venezuela due to “worsening security situation and heightened military activity in or around” the country.
