The Lebanese army said an “aggressive and barbaric” Israeli strike targeted a military vehicle on the Kfar Tebnit-Khardali road in Nabatieh city, killing a brigadier general, a captain and a soldier.
The seizure of the site near Nabatieh followed days of airstrikes and heavy fighting in nearby villages, where Israeli forces engaged Hezbollah fighters in the rugged border region.
Egypt’s remarks, delivered by Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly, come while the Israeli army has defied the 18 February deadline for their withdrawal from southern Lebanon under a deal with Hezbollah, keeping forces in five locations.
