Qatari Prime Minister
Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty made the call during separate phone conversations with Qatari Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani and Saudi Foreign Minister Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud.
The joint call by the two Arab mediators in the Gaza talks come after both Israel and Hamas agreed to move ahead with the first phases of a plan outlined by Trump to halt the war in the enclave and ensure the release of remaining captives.
Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty and Qatari Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani held talks on Thursday as part of ongoing coordination between the two countries on critical regional developments.
Qatari Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani said in statements on Wednesday that Doha is currently discussing a response to the Israeli attack with its regional partners.
"There is a rogue actor engaging in constant political thuggery in this region and violating the sovereignty of its states."
Speaking at a press conference alongside Turkey's Minister of Foreign Affairs Hakan Fidan, Sheikh Mohammed emphasized the need for both parties to engage as stipulated in the accord.
Egypt’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Badr Abdelatty, and Qatar’s Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al-Thani, also discussed the launch of a central follow-up mechanism in Cairo to monitor the implementation of the agreement.
According to Israeli news website Ynet, Qatar’s Prime Minister Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani and Burns will head their respective delegations in the talks in Doha.
