Cairo hosted a meeting on Tuesday of mediators and guarantors of the Gaza ceasefire agreement.
They, additionally, tackled efforts to support the Arab-Islamic plan for the reconstruction of the Gaza Strip with international actors, and preparations related to the reconstruction conference hosted by Egypt in cooperation with the Palestinian government and the United Nations.
The two ministers reviewed the latest developments in the Gaza Strip and the ongoing Egyptian-Qatari efforts to reinstate the ceasefire in Gaza, and ensure the implementation of its three phases.
Minister Abdelatty also expressed Egypt's eagerness to resume the political consultation mechanism between the two countries at the foreign ministers' level and to restart periodic meetings at the senior officials' level to discuss regional issues of mutual interest.
In a statement, the movement announced that Ismail Haniyeh, head of the Hamas political bureau, made a phone call with Egyptian Minister of Intelligence Abbas Kamel and Qatari Prime Minister, Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani, informing them the Hamas' approval of the proposal regarding a ceasefire agreement.
They demanded an immediate ceasefire in Gaza and to implement the relevant Security Council resolutions, called for the release of Israeli hostages, and cautioned against an invasion in Rafah. They emphasized that such an attack would only exacerbate human suffering and threaten a regional escalation.
