CAIRO-12 March 2021: Zamalek's new French head coach Patrice Carteron stated on Friday that he is happy to be back to coach Zamalek again.

"I am happy to be back. We have a lot to do and we will start the hard work to prepare for the upcoming challenges." Carteron said.

The French head coach will lead Zamalek's training for the first time on Friday as the team starts the preparations for their decisive match against Tunisia's Esperance in the CAF Champions League group stage.

Carteron added "I would like to thank Zamalek's board and the club fans for their constant support."

Carteron coached Zamalek between December 2019 and September 2020, having led the club to win the Egyptian Super Cup and the African Super Cup titles.

He also led Zamalek to the CAF Champions League semis before announcing his departure from the club before Zamalek's match against Raja Casablanca.

The decision to re-sign Carteron caused much controversy between Zamalek fans and they are divided between supporters and opponents of the decision.
