Simba head coach: We deserved the win over Al Ahly

CAIRO-27 February 2021: Simba head coach Didier Gomes stated that his team played a good game against Al Ahly in the Matchday 2 of the CAF Champions League group stage and they deserved to win the match.

Gomes commented on his team’s performance in the match, saying “I am proud of the win; it was not easy for us to get it, we fought for it so we should be proud of it,"

Simba defeated Al Ahly 1-0 on Tuesday and they are now atop of the group table with 6 points after two fixtures.

Gomes added “Al Ahly is a big team in Africa, but we also proved to them that we have what it takes to get a positive outcome. We gave our best in every department despite the fact that we also struggled in some areas which we will work on before playing our next game.”

Gomes will face his former club, Al Merrikh of Sudan, in the upcoming fixture of the competition.

The head coach believes that his team will face a tough opponent and they have to fight to get a good result.

He continued “It will be a very difficult game because I know that team. The six points we have so far collected are vital to us and will be helpful in future.”
