Al Ahly midfielder and captain Hossam Ashour has been chosen among the best eleven of the fifth round of the African Champions League to be the only Egyptian in the list. The squad of the round was published on Monday on the official Facebook account of the Confederation of African Football.

Al Ahly tied 0 all with the Zambian Zanaco FC in the fifth round, before defeating Cameroonian Coton FC and qualifying for the quarterfinals. Meanwhile Zamalek lost 0-3 to Capes United but the team still has an opportunity to qualify to the quarterfinals, if they win their next encounter against the Lobyan Ahli Tripoli and Caps United loses to USM Alger.

Ashour played the last game against Zanaco and delivered an exceptional performance, netting him a place on the list.

The full list includes:

Goalkeeper: Denis Onyango (Mamelodi Sundowns FC).

Defense: Farouk Shafei (USM Alger) - Naim Aarab (Wydad Athletic) - Pascual Amorim (Ferroviário).

Midfielders: Anthony Laffor (Mamelodi Sundowns FC) - Hossam Ashour (Ahly) - Boyd Siame Musonda (Zanaco FC) - Abbas Amido (CAPS United).

Attack: Mohamed Abdel Rahman (Al Merreikh Omdurman) - Taha Yassin Khneisi (Esperance Tunis) - Agiti Etekiama (Vita Club).
