CAIRO-12 February 2021: Al Ahly goalkeeper and captain Mohamed El Shenawy stated that the team wants to win the CAF Champions League title this season and return back to participate in the FIFA Club World Cup next year.

"We will now start focusing on our upcoming matches, as we aim to win the 10th CAF Champions League title in the history of the club and return back to the FIFA Club World Cup next year.” El Shenawy said.

El Shenawy helped his team win the bronze medal in the FIFA Club World Cup after making crucial saves in the third-place playoff against Brazil's Palmeiras.

El Shenawy added "We had a clear objective before traveling to participate in the tournament.  Moreover, we promised our fans that we will be winning a medal in the FIFA Club World Cup and that is what we managed to achieve.”

Al Ahly became the first Arab and African club to reach the podium in the Club World Cup on two occasions as Al Ahly also won the bronze medal in 2006.

Al Ahly's delegation returned back to Cairo on Friday after a historic participation in the FIFA Club World Cup, held in Qatar between 4 and 11 February.
