CAIRO-11 February 2021: Al Ahly defeated Brazilian giants, Palmeiras, 3-2 on penalties in the FIFA Club World Cup third-place playoff to win the bronze medal for the second time in the club’s history.

The regular time ended in a goalless draw and the game went to penalties.

Al Ahly goalkeeper stepped up and put on a heroic performance, having saved three penalty shots while Badr Benoun, Mohamed Hany and Junior Ajayi scored to secure the victory for the Red Devils.

El Shenawy claimed Man of the Match award after his sensational performance in the match.

Al Ahly players stayed at Education City stadium as they followed the final between Germany’s Bayern Munich and Tigres of Mexico, which ended with a 1-0 win for the Bavarian giants.

Following the final, Al Ahly players received the bronze medals by FIFA President Gianni Infantino.
